Dr. Trevor J Petersen is a professor of psychology at Oregon Tech and a licensed clinical psychologist. He completed his graduate studies at Ohio University and a clinical internship at Washington State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
In addition to university teaching and providing psychotherapy in private practice, he directs the Oregon Tech Relationship Building Program and the Oregon Tech Well-Being Program that serve Department of Human Services Child Welfare and Self-Sufficiency clients. The courses he teaches include basic counseling techniques, advanced counseling techniques, motivational interviewing, abnormal psychology, positive psychology, career preparation, and sports psychology.
He has spent over 20 years studying the means by which humans can deeply connect and thrive, and published a book on this topic called Overlap: The Heart of Happiness. An Evidence-Based Recipe for Joy, Meaning, and Life Satisfaction.
He grew up in the small farming town of Moses Lake, Washington and now lives in Southern Oregon with his wife, five children, and dog. He enjoys strategy board games, sports, photography, and all things outdoors.
